This 1776 home had a 3rd floor bedroom but it was tight and had no view of the harbor. We removed the entire roof, raised it up 4-5” and increased the pitch and now there is a full owner’s suite with a view of the harbor thanks to a new dormer. The house is a timber frame and required innovative structural solutions as we are not disturbing the floors below. Our expertise in navigating town boards helped get this one through the Historic District Commission.

There are creative and beautiful ways of making a home accessible. Most visitors to this home have no idea there is a wheelchair ramp under the porch until they are a few feet away. There is also a fully accessible suite for our clients’ daughter, including a beautiful and functional bath, living area and rear deck.

A site with some fun history! This in-town project on Boston’s North Shore was once a high school dating back to the 1800s. It has a commanding view into town and over a portion of the harbor. The only thing remaining from the 1800s is a massive granite retaining wall and a large set of steps up from the sidewalk. Stay tuned for more as we follow the construction progress!
