🌲⚠️ Today’s project: safe removal of a large dead pine threatening a barn and surrounding property.

During inspection, we identified a significant canker approximately 20 feet up the stem, contributing to decline and increasing failure risk. Combined with the tree’s lean toward the structure, removal was the safest long-term solution.

Careful planning, controlled dismantling, and the right equipment allowed us to remove the tree efficiently while protecting the barn and surrounding landscape.

🌴 Sometimes the issue starts underground — and by the time symptoms show above ground, recovery is no longer realistic.

For this community project, we removed multiple trees that had been planted too deep and never developed proper root systems. Restricted root development and poor establishment left these trees beyond recovery, making removal the best long-term decision for the landscape.

We also completed palm pruning throughout the property to remove declining fronds and improve overall appearance and maintenance.

🌳 Tree preservation takes planning.

Today’s project focused on improving safety while preserving the long-term structure of these mature trees. We removed a decaying tree showing significant trunk deterioration and internal decay, then shifted attention to the surrounding Live Oaks.

Our team performed targeted pruning to remove large deadwood, reduce end weight on extended limbs, and lessen loading over the home while maintaining the natural form these trees are known for. The goal is always risk mitigation without over-pruning — preserving beauty, structure, and longevity whenever possible.

Some trees don’t show the full extent of their problems until you get inside them.

Today we helped a homeowner mitigate several high-risk trees before they became a major issue. We removed a dead maple, a sweet gum and hickory that had grown together with compromised structure, reduced the dead side of a declining water oak, and performed pruning for proper house clearance.

One of the biggest surprises was the amount of hidden internal decay inside the maple — completely hollow through the center. Situations like this are exactly why routine inspections and proactive tree care matter.

🌳 Another Tree Preservation Project Completed in New Bern, NC 🌳

These trees were showing signs of stress from improper mulching, structural imbalance, and insect pressure — all common issues we see in newer landscapes across coastal North Carolina.

For this project, Groom & Bloom Tree Experts performed:
✔️ Deadwood pruning to remove declining and non-productive limbs
✔️ Structural pruning to improve form and long-term stability
✔️ Volcano mulch correction to expose the root flare and reduce trunk stress
✔️ Soil drench application with systemic insecticide for protection against damaging pests
✔️ Fertilization treatment to support root health and vigor
✔️ Corrective staking on leaning trees to encourage proper establishment and straighter growth
