My main curiosity was soil biology and it’s role in growing the healthiest plants possible. In 1994 I planted some Thai Dragon peppers in our garden and my dad would dare me to try them before he would eat them. chinense pepper was at the age of 16. That fruity, smoky, citrusy burst, followed by an extreme heat, was unlike anything I had ever tasted in my garden before. This new world of flavors s

parked what would become a life long infatuation and set me on a quest, Traveling The World In Search of Peppers. Fast forward to present with nearly 30 years of cultivation experience, field collections abroad, trades and friendships made, the pepper community looks much different than it did back in the 1990’s. I’ve administrated some of the world’s largest cultivation forums and continue to share my passion with other pepper enthusiasts across various platforms. I now travel the world in search of my favorite pepper varieties from their region of origin. Nothing is more rewarding than hand picking peppers in each village, farm or hidden trail we discover on our adventures along the way. The people we meet and the friendships we make are what truly breathes life into our journey. The shared passion for peppers across so many different cultures may just be the key to understanding that we are all more alike than we realize.

Found a volunteer Solanum abutiloides (Dwarf Tamarillo) growing on the side of this pile of soil today. I originally found these on the bank of the river flowing out of Cuevas Waterfalls near Samaipata, Bolivia. Crazy to think these seeds have sat dormant in the seed bed this long. Just like in its endemic habitat, this plant is enjoying the loose pile of soil on the edge of a clearing.
