One of our dear friends, Bill Kahlenbeck, passed away Monday. Bill was a long-term Paragon employee before retiring (for the third time) a few years ago.

Bill was fearless in his work, courageous in his faith in Jesus Christ, and a powerful example and mentor for our staff both spiritually and horticulturally.

Bill brought delight and encouragement to our staff and our clients. He was also one of our "Teaching Legends," whom we honor with a place in our electric picture frame at each of our offices. I would like to share these pictures with you all, including a couple of Bill's favorite sayings.

Betty, we know you'll miss him, and I'm blessed by your perspective. He's in the arms of Jesus. Then he'll probably start landscaping heaven for God's glory. I hope he doesn't finish it all before I get there.

Everyone is anxious to get their flowers planted. But it's only May 8!

The usual "frost-free date" for our area is May 15. However, we've gotten snow and freezing weather as late as May 23, so be patientšŸ™‚

Looking at the ten day forecast, I think we're ALMOST in the clear.

But for tonight, when it's going to touch the 30's...bring your flowers and vegetables inside, or water them well and cover them. It even helps to soak the sheets and towels you use to cover your plants, since that water will offer protective heat exchange when the frost sets in.

Protect them through cold nights like this, and you'll have better performance throughout the season. More to eat. More to cut and bring inside!
