Hello backyard vegetable gardeners. I hope you're having a great day. You know, life's problems can quickly bring us down ... sickness, career, family, politics, culture, etc... that's why it's important for us to enjoy even the little things that are good in our lives. There is no doubt that this year's garden did not produce anywhere near the amount that I am used to expecting, and it's already been a trying year due to my wife's sickness, but, still, it has been a good year. This photo represents what I have harvested since Saturday (a 4-day period), not counting what we've already eaten... a little here and a little there ... and there's still plenty hanging on the plants that aren't quite ready to be harvested. So, friends, the point is, some years are good and others are not so good, but in them all we can find joy if that is what we're looking for. We'll certainly have an easier time making it through the difficult times if we can learn to pay less attention to our problems and disappointments and steer our attention toward all of the little good things that are still present.

My favorite of all the types of lilies that I have planted around the house. They are the last of the lillies to bloom, and they never disappoint. It has been about 10 years since I planted them, so long that I have forgot what variety they are ... all I can remember is they are some type of Oriental Lily. What is your favorite flower in your garden?
