Memorial Day
Today is not the day to thank those who serve and stand—
Today we bow in reverence to the fallen across this land.
They gave the ultimate sacrifice, laid down their lives so we'd be free,
Their courage, love, and selflessness became our liberty.
Freedom isn't free—if you need to understand the price,
Look with respect into the eyes of those who've paid it twice.
A wife whose heart is forever torn, her soulmate gone away,
A child who walks through life alone, their hero couldn't stay.
A mother's arms left empty, a father's silent, aching grief,
Their sacrifice continues long after we lay the wreath.
With gratitude we honor them on this most sacred day,
The loved ones of our fallen—they carry the weight we cannot weigh.
In reverence we remember, with respect we stand and say,
Thank you to the families who live this loss each day.
Tears that flow like rivers, love that will not fade,
A polished stone of marble white, a folded flag carefully laid.
All that remains are memories of the brave who gave their all,
So with gratitude and reverence, we answer freedom's call.
