Out with the old….In with the new. This customer had a 200amp service which was in bad shape as you can see. She explained all the new upcoming load demand that she was in need of for HVAC equipment, in law quarters, hot tub and pool equipment. We upgraded her service to a 400amp service!

As we all get through the winter season here, please be cautious with electric space heaters and baseboard heaters. Make sure the area is free and clear from any obstructions, no drapes or curtains near the heaters.

As far as space heaters, this is a frequent issue unfortunately. Space heaters pull a lot of current and wattage causing overheating to an appliance. If there is a loose connection in the outlet, the space heater will likely cause more overheating and cause damage just as shown in the picture. It wont neccessarily trip the breaker unless the circuit is overloaded or if the wires melt to a point where they touch.

When turning on or off the space heater, always be sure to inspect the outlet for any heat damage, the cord of the appliance or keep notice of any sparking that takes place when plugging in your unit.

If you have any doubt please contact a licensed electrician to address your problem before it gets worse.
