When There Is Zero Backyard Access, You Bring In STC
We recently wrapped up a project where a crane was not just helpful, it was the only safe way to get the job done efficiently.
With no reasonable access to bring heavy equipment into the backyard and sensitive young trees to protect, we had to execute a low-impact removal from the air.
This job involved taking down three high-risk tree situations:
* A shortleaf pine that had been choked by old chains and heavy vines, with roots disrupting the lawn.
* A twin-stem white pine with a hazardous split at the base. One stem leaned toward the street, and the other hung directly over an outdoor pavilion.
* A massive sweetgum with poor structural integrity threatening the home, pavilion, and a neighbor's camper.
Because dropping heavy limbs was not an option over the freshly planted oak and buckeye trees, we used a two-phase approach.
On Day 1, we cleared a path through an overgrown adjacent lot to the west using our skid steer and brush cutter to position our backyard lift. Mythias, Aaron, and Dakoda spent the day manually rigging and lowering limbs into the street in controlled sections, making the trees easier for crane day while keeping all debris out of the yard.
On Day 2, we brought in Branson Crane Service to lift out the massive remaining sections. Kyle set the slings up top while Aaron made the cuts. Down on the ground, Mythias and Shane managed the street landing zone, processing each piece as soon as it touched the asphalt.
We had one minor hiccup when our mini skid steer's fuel pump failed mid-day in the street, but having a crane on site made quick work of picking it up and loading it out of the way.
Every section came down safely, leaving the lawn, the young saplings, and the surrounding structures completely untouched.
