AC Electrical Systems is looking to hire an Electrical Engineer.
This job will entail designing, overseeing, and supporting the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and Multifamily projects. This role involves close collaboration with project managers, electricians, and clients to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant electrical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• System Design: Develop electrical plans, schematics, and layouts for power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and low-voltage systems using tools like AutoCAD, Revit and BIM.
• Project Support: Provide technical guidance to electricians, project superintendents and subcontractors during installation, ensuring adherence to design specifications and project timelines.
• Estimating and Bidding: Assist in preparing cost estimates, material takeoffs, and proposals for electrical projects, ensuring competitive and accurate bids.
• Code Compliance: Ensure all designs and installations meet local, state, and national electrical codes (e.g., NEC, IBC) and client requirements.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical issues during construction or post-installation, minimizing delays and ensuring system reliability.
• Coordination: Collaborate with architects, general contractors, and other trades to integrate electrical systems into overall project plans.
• Testing and Commissioning: Oversee testing of electrical systems (e.g., circuit testing, load balancing) to verify performance and safety before project handover.
• Documentation: Prepare as-built drawings, technical reports, and maintenance guides for completed projects.
• Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand project needs, provide updates, and ensure satisfaction with electrical work.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Experience: 2-4 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably with an electrical contractor or in construction-related projects.
• Skills:
o Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other electrical design software.
o Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including power, lighting, and control systems.
o Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant standards.
o Problem-solving and analytical skills for on-site challenges.
o Excellent communication and teamwork to coordinate with diverse project stakeholders.
• Certifications: EIT certification preferred; Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
• Tools/Technologies: Experience with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, ConEst) and field tools (e.g., multimeters, circuit testers) is an advantage.
Work Environment:
• Split between office (design and planning) and field (site visits, inspections, and troubleshooting).
• Occasional travel to project locations and irregular hours during critical project phases.
Preferred Qualities:
• Practical, hands-on approach to solving electrical challenges.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
