Hello September 1st & our first Tip Tuesday geared towards Fall in Maryland.

🍂 3 THINGS TO DO IN YOUR LANDSCAPE THIS FALL

Summer is winding down, and early fall is one of the best times to give your landscape some attention.

Before the leaves start falling, put these three things on your list:

đŸŒ± 1. Give Your Lawn a Fresh Start
Maryland summers can leave lawns thin, stressed, and bare in spots. Early fall is a great time for fertilizing and overseeding to encourage stronger roots and thicker growth.

🌳 2. Plant Now — Enjoy It Later
Fall is an ideal time to add trees, shrubs, and new plantings. Cooler air and warm soil give roots time to establish before next summer’s heat.

🍁 3. Get Ahead of the Cleanup
Clean up beds, remove dead growth, refresh mulch where needed, and tackle some maintenance before the heavy leaf drop begins.

The best landscapes don’t just happen — they’re prepared for each season.

Not sure what your property needs this fall? Send us a message and let’s put together a plan.

New week. New work. And continued care for the work we’ve already done. 🌿

From projects just getting started to established landscapes that continue to grow and change, there’s always something happening.

The job may be complete, but the landscape is never truly finished.

Back at it. Happy Monday!

đŸŸ Happy National Dog Day!

Around here, we know a good outdoor space isn’t just for the people. 🌿

Whether they’re supervising the yard work, inspecting the landscaping, or finding the best patch of shade — the four-legged members of the family usually have some pretty strong opinions about the backyard too.

Here’s to the best outdoor companions (and unofficial jobsite supervisors) around. đŸŸ

Her: “Guys
I’m going to need you to stretch a bit for this one, put a smile on and get those jazz hands ready! Everyone’s doing it, let’s go
”

All jokes aside, I hope you’re having a great start to your week, the summer is wrapping up but that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to keep it growing!

Happy Monday from the Landscapes Solutions crew!

Summer isn’t finished with us yet—but the landscape is starting to give us a few hints of what’s ahead.

This beautiful white Firelight Tidbit hydrangea is just beginning its seasonal transition, with subtle changes in the blooms signaling that fall isn’t too far away.

It’s one of our favorite things about a well-planned landscape: it never really stands still. Colors shift, textures change, and plants take on a completely different character as one season gives way to the next.

For now, we’re enjoying the last stretch of summer—and keeping an eye out for those first quiet signs of fall. 🌿

đŸŒ± TIP TUESDAY: Crabgrass is having its moment
and we wish it wasn’t.

If you’ve looked out across your lawn lately and wondered, “Where did THAT come from?” — there’s a good chance you’re looking at crabgrass.

August in Maryland is prime time to notice it. Crabgrass loves the heat and takes advantage of thin turf and bare spots, spreading low across the ground and competing with your lawn. It will eventually die with the first frost, but here’s the catch: before it goes, it can produce seed for next year’s problem.

So what can you do right now? Well here are a few tips we’ve put together for you from our years of experience with it.

🌿 Don’t scalp the lawn. Cutting grass extra short doesn’t get rid of crabgrass—in fact, it gives it an advantage. For the tall fescue common in this area, aim for roughly 3–4 inches, and stay toward the higher end during summer heat.

🌿 Follow the 1/3 rule. Never remove more than one-third of the grass blade in a single mowing. Healthy, taller turf helps shade the soil and compete with weeds.

🌿 Don’t mow stressed turf just because it’s mowing day. During extremely hot, dry weather, skip it.

🌿 Catch it before it seeds. Small patches can be hand-pulled—moist soil post summer rain, makes that easier. For larger infestations, proper identification matters before choosing any treatment.

🌿 Think ahead to next spring. Once crabgrass is mature in August, prevention becomes an important part of next year’s strategy. Pre-emergent crabgrass control is applied before germination in spring, while building thicker turf and repairing bare areas helps make the lawn less inviting in the first place.

The goal isn’t just killing weeds—it’s creating a healthier lawn that gives them less room to move in.
