Charley Asaro, our Director of Pre-Construction, walks through what the basement at the India Pentecostal Assembly looked like when Core Concepts first walked the site and what it took to get to 12 and a half feet of finished ceiling height.

Underpinning an entire basement is not a small undertaking. The owner wanted more out of this space and we delivered it.

This is what underpinning looks like in practice.

The original basement floor is above us. By working in sections around the perimeter, the team was able to excavate beneath the existing foundation, pour new concrete, and bring the floor down without compromising the structure. One section at a time, following the sequence the structural engineer laid out.

A full walkthrough of the India Pentecostal Assembly in Syosset with Nicole LaMontagne, Charley Asaro, and site superintendent Dennis.
The sanctuary will hold 450 people, complete with a stage, a state-of-the-art AV system, and a 45-foot television screen. Getting here required underpinning beneath the existing structure to gain the ceiling height the space needed.
A lot of work has gone into this building before a single person walks through the doors.

At the India Pentecostal Assembly in Syosset the original basement ceiling was 9 feet too short.
We couldn't go up. So we went down.

Core Concepts Contracting Inc. completed this 10,000 sf addition to their existing Garden City facility, built with load bearing CMU walls and joist roof framing, with the same budgeting, value engineering, and precision that has kept this relationship going for nearly a decade.
