Here’s the deal, kids. Integrity matters.
Integrity means doing everything properly, neatly, and well. It means doing everything in a code compliant manner.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked by a contractor or homeowner to cut a corner. Or “why is that so expensive?” I’ve refused to cut corners. And because of that integrity, I’ve lost jobs. And I’ve been asked to go back and fix things later. I can guarantee that you will always find someone cheaper. Today proved why integrity and compliance are paramount.
This little surge protector was installed in a panel that I wired. I got an emergency call because of smoke, and a burnt sulfur smell. When I got to the house, the fire department was there. As it turns out, there was a power surge. It’s on the utility end of things, not ours. The firefighters and utility workers commented on how neat the panel was.
To top it all off, this one little whole house surge protector is required by code. I put this in. It may have done its job and saved a bunch of equipment in the house. Once power is restored, we’ll know better.
Until then, it’s impossible for any fingers to be pointed this way because, integrity matters.
