Most people don’t think about dangerous trees until it’s too late.

The massive oak off the corner of the home, in the first picture, split at the base during the tornadoes that tore through NEPA.

Thankfully, the house was spared. Many other trees came down that day.

Here’s the question:

⚠️ Another hazardous tree safely removed! 🌳

Today’s project involved a dead ash tree that had snapped approximately 20 feet up and become suspended in the canopy of a large maple. Situations like this are extremely dangerous because the broken stem is under tension and can shift unexpectedly during removal.

Our crew carefully rigged the entire tree down in controlled sections to eliminate the hazard without causing damage to the surrounding property.

While we were on site, we also:
✅ Removed the large maple the ash was hung up in.
✅ Raised the canopy on another mature maple in front of the home to improve clearance, appearance, and overall tree health.
✅ Completed a full cleanup, leaving the property looking better than when we arrived.

Every tree is different, and jobs like this are a reminder that experience, proper equipment, and careful planning matter when working around homes and people.

🏡 Framing Complete on This Custom Home Addition

Projects like this are exactly why experience matters.

What appears to be a straightforward addition from the outside required careful planning and precise ex*****on from the very beginning.

This project presented several unique challenges:

✔️ Installing foundation piers around existing underground electrical infrastructure
✔️ Tying into a home with an angled gable end
✔️ Connecting a new roof system to an existing structure with a completely different roof pitch
✔️ Building an addition where there were virtually no true right angles to reference

These are the kinds of conditions that can’t be solved with a standard set of plans or a one-size-fits-all approach. Every measurement, layout decision, and structural connection had to be carefully engineered and executed to ensure the finished addition looks and performs as though it was always part of the original home.

Today, the framing is complete, and the results speak for themselves.

Problem Solved. Property Protected. 🏗️🌳

The Roots and Canopy Tree Solutions team just wrapped up a technical crane project involving the removal of 10 trees and a massive lead overhanging the roof.

The main challenge? Four of these trees had grown directly into the homeowner's existing deck over the years, creating a structural nightmare.

Using a crane allowed us to "surgically" lift these trees vertically out of the deck, preventing any damage to the boards or the house.
Working with the Homeowner:
We don’t just cut and haul; we listen. At the client's request, we preserved specific parts of the canopy for their lifestyle:

✅ Two trees were cut to height to keep the existing hammock setup.
✅ Two trunks were leveled off to serve as sturdy bases for future outdoor tabletops.

The Result: 10 hazards removed, the roof cleared, and the property left pristine. When we pulled away, the only thing left behind was a safer yard and a very happy client.
