IKEA Bookshelf Hack - Home Office Project/Phase 2
It was time to complete the second phase for this Home Office Project:
- We assembled 5 "Billy" Bookcases and 5 Extension Sections
- We secured to wall and to each other
- We installed Crown Molding up to the ceiling
- On the first section, we installed Glass Doors
- We also adjusted the Crown Molding to ceiling height
Note: Prime/Paint to be done by others
This was fun and creative and an excellent example of how to get the look you want and keep within your budget!

The Door Jambs/Door Edges on these gorgeous French Doors were starting to soften and degrade. This is a common issue. Leo was able to apply Wood Hardener which will strengthen the wood fibers and make them hard like a rock. After the 2 coats dried, we Primed and Painted. This action has saved the homeowner a costly repair down the road. Win/Win! (This beautiful home is located at the top of Bull Run Mountain - it was an overcast day, but the view was still stunning!)

For this kitchen remodel, the homeowner has broken down the project into phases. Phase One is the installation of this beautiful kitchen island. Leo installed the cabinets (plumb, level, shim) and also installed Steel Support Braces for the 15" Counter Overhang. Then, he ran the wiring for an electrical outlet on each end of the island. Love the blue!

Laundry Room Makeover
Leo fabricated the countertops/backsplash out of Birch plywood and installed them in this laundry room (no more lost socks!) Next, he dropped in the metal sink and made all of the plumbing connections.
The lady of the house is a talented entrepreneur who designs and produces her own wallpaper (500+ designs) She will stain with a semi-transparent shade (warm gray/green) and apply a mat finish.

REPAIR FAIL...so this happened at a customer home the other day when installing a new screen door closer... How NOT to repair a door jamb. When connecting 2 pieces of wood, always use a good construction adhesive. Guess who did this did not know that nails alone are not sufficient (especially tiny finish nails in this case!)

Sneak Peek! We worked with our creative customer earlier this Fall on another Ikea Cabinet Hack inspired project. This is Phase One of a very special office. The combo of the actual built in cabinet/counter with the Ikea shelves topped with crown molding worked well. Notice the cool cedar paneling (very unique!) and the gorgeous paint shade that has been selected. Even the Keurig almost matches :-) We look forward to Phase Two!

One of the best things about our business is working within our own community. We have met so many fantastic people! Our neighbors whom we had never met and who also live very nearby had us remove their old French Door and replace with a new Sliding Glass Door. It was wonderful to not only assist them in enhancing their home, but to also meet them after all this time! (Sorry for the glare with all the sunshine!)
