Please join us in welcoming Kurt Oberbruner as our new Vice President of Commercial Operations at Frank & Grossman.

Kurt’s journey in landscaping began early—at just 11 years old, mowing lawns and helping neighbors with yard work. After earning his Business degree from California State University, Chico, he spent time in tech sales before returning to the industry he’s truly passionate about.

Over the past 20 years, Kurt has built his career through hands-on leadership roles, including Account Manager, Operations Manager, Branch Manager, Director of Operations, and Vice President of Operations. Along the way, he has worked with well-known companies such as ValleyCrest and Cagwin & Dorward.

What stood out to Kurt about Frank & Grossman was the people and the culture. He believes that when you take care of your team and your customers, everything else follows—and that philosophy is reflected in his leadership style. Kurt is especially focused on supporting field teams, prioritizing safety, and fostering a positive work environment.

We are excited to have Kurt on board and look forward to the experience, leadership, and energy he brings to the Frank & Grossman team.

At Frank and Grossman Landscape Contractors, collaboration in the field is where vision becomes reality, that’s what’s unfolding this week at the Santa Lucia Preserve.
 
From fine grading and subgrade prep to layout and site coordination, our team is working shoulder to shoulder with landscape architect, general contractor, and skilled operators to bring precision and intent to every square foot of landscape.. These partnerships are the foundation of well-executed landscape construction projects.
 
Under a brilliant blue sky and animated cloud cover, the season is beginning to shift. There’s a crispness in the air, a quiet signal that fall is here and winter is approaching.
 
The work continues at full pace, driven by shared purpose and mutual respect across trades.

Who is David Curtis?

I’m David Curtis — Registered Landscape Architect & Business Developer at Frank + Grossman

For as long as I can remember, landscape has been more than just work. It’s passion, purpose, and play. Having had the privilege of working in four U.S. states and four countries outside the U.S., I’ve seen how people everywhere shape and are shaped by the land.

Here’s what I love & what drives me:

- The blend of design and construction — conceiving something beautiful, then seeing it built, rooted in soil, stone, water, plants.

-Edible landscapes. I garden vegetables, experiment with fruit, herbs, edible trees — imagining every space capable of nourishing people, and drawing them into their surroundings.

-Movement & nature. When I’m not sketching or in meetings, I surf, wakeboard, ski, and man bike. I chase sunrises, salty air, powder days, and the rush of waves. It’s all part of being connected — to life, to people, to land.

At Frank + Grossman, my goal is to bring all that energy into our work — to design landscapes that are vibrant and functional; beautiful and sustainable; edible and inspiring. Environments where people feel alive. Roots and wings kind of places.

To my core I believe, we are strongest when we work as a team!!
