As we are trying to put Hazlehurst Georgia back together and pick up the pieces, please keep in mind that utility companies are working hard to bring power and water back. This means dangerous conditions, possible live power lines and moving timber. Satilla and Georgia power are restoring power to overhead lines as quickly and as safely as they can. Generators need to be used in a way they cannot feed back onto the lines. Transformers on these poles work both ways, they drop the voltage to something that is safe for your home. If your generator is pushing power back through these transformers it can create deadly voltage on the downed lines. If your meter base or the mast going down to your meter is damaged please contact a trusted electrician to repair it. Satilla and Georgia Power cannot put power on these damaged meters.
