Over the past several years, Colton Hutton has grown to be a big part of the Mountain Lake team. From the very first time I met him working hot summer days on a kick bale wagon stacking straw, to becoming a pillar in our commercial snow & ice leadership team, and a force in day to day operations, he has done it all. Two weeks ago Colton was in a severe dirt bike accident that left him with a completely severed spinal cord, along with several other serious injuries.
For those of you that have not had the privilege to meet this gentleman, I’ll try to fill you in. Colton is one of the best people I have ever known. Ultra genuine, and kind. Randomly breaking out into song on the job site, to a song that maybe one person knows, if we’re lucky lol. Always lending a helping hand and looking out for the team around him. The most dedicated Saints fan I ever met in my life. Tyler Shough, please do not let our friend down. An absolute STUD of a bowler, PBA, he’s got next! Pete Weber, he’s coming. A general liability polices worst nightmare on a golf course, but a hilarious fourth. His legal first name is Colton, but some people call him “Burt”, please don’t ask me why. Extremely funny, and has an awesome sense of humor. I always told him if landscaping did not work out for him, stand up comedy might. If you’re a bottle of syrup or ketchup, milkshake, wheat thin, pancake, salmon burger, “diet coke or pepsi whatever ya got” IYKYK, watch out. The only man in the world to show up to a snow blizzard in dirt bike boots and a trench coat. A dude that loves the outdoors. One of the greatest Bobcat L28 operators of all time. A lover and a hater of local breakfast joints. The dude knows no stranger. One of the biggest FOX enthusiasts of our generation. An extremely hard worker, and one of the few people than can say they worked 110+ hours in 7 days. Sharp as a tac. Man could advertise for Waffle House, because he’s always there when you need him. Incredible leader, and is passionate about everything in life. Truly a one of a kind human being.
Most importantly, he loves the Lord and puts Jesus at the center of his life. He lives every day as a living and breathing testimony for Christ. He has a rockstar of a fiancée, and an incredible family. He truly exemplifies that “people do not care about how much you know, until they know about how much you care.” You will be hard pressed to find a better human being. Please send all of the thoughts, support, and prayers to he, his fiancée, and his family during this time. Colton, we love you man! It’s a privilege to know you, work with you, and call you a friend!
