THE DRIVER HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED: Deputy Webb has confirmed that the driver of the truck has been found. 😊 All in less than an hour of the post being up.

You guys rock!

Please BOLO for a newer 2025-2026 Ford Superduty dually in what appears to be Avalanche Grey that committed a hit-and-run on front of our shop a little after 5PM today.

The driver came flying into the corner and came across traffic at a dead stop, when they slammed on the brakes, it caused the trailer to jacknife and slam into an oncoming car, causing injuries.

The driver then proceeded to flee the scene, headed eastbound on Route 9 towards Martinsburg.

EMS and police are on scene, and any information can be directly reported to Deputy Webb at the Berkeley County Sheriffs Office.

Can I take a moment and be blunt with everyone reading this?

I know that there are times we are the cheapest quote, and I know that there are times we are the most expensive. I understand that different services and different locations make it hard to pin down our pricing at times, and I do understand that times are tight on everyone, and sometimes a particular service or item is just not in the budget.

Now, I'm not going to name names, because this isn't about smearing anyone, and this certainly isn't to shame anyone for helping this lady, but THIS is why you don't hire a tow company to unlock a car you care about.

THIS is how I can stand out from other locksmiths and make your money go further and provide A+ service.

Long story short, this lady locked the keys in her car on Tuesday, and has allegedly had multiple tow companies out here to try and open her trunk. The door is bowed out and will leak air and water, the roof line is all dented and scratched, the trim is all tore up, the door lock cylinder is loose and missing the screw that holds it in, and the rubber beauty plug is all torn.

4 days of her stressing out and supposedly investing thousands of dollars for other people to try, and I was there and had the car open, the alarm disabled, and the trunk open in under 3 minutes.

Not a scratch, not a dent, not a ding. No drama. And I left it exactly how I found it.

This is why you should hire the best when you can. This is why we strive to be the best. We are the company that the other locksmiths call when they fail and we have to come save the day. This is how we can show our worth to our clients and the public at large.

And if the day ever comes where we slip and stop being the best we can be, I hope someone else steps up and becomes the best, because I wholeheartedly recommend to everyone reading this; hire the best in whatever service you require.

It'll be money well spent to have peace of mind and to know the job is done right the first time.

2026 was yet another awesome year for the kids at the Berkeley County Youth Fair for the market hogs!

While we are saddened that we didn't manage to win some of the pigs we were bidding on that were being showed by kids who had pigs we got in prior years, we were super excited to see those kids get such high sales prices! 🤩

We were especially excited to see pigs from the Lore, Grove, and Espeland families go for pretty solid numbers, and we will try again to get pigs from them in 2027.

This year, we are honored and excited to have bought two pigs, one each from Amelia Pinyan and Sierra Knight, and we look forward to adding their photos to the wall!

Help us make a difference in our community!

Ave's Lock and Key and Berkeley Armory are proud to help RPM Used Auto Sales for this year's Stuff-A-Bus event to help Berkeley County children start the school year with the supplies they need.

We are setting up a donation box at our location and are asking our amazing community to help make this the best Stuff-A-Bus event yet! Every donation will help local students head back to school prepared and ready to succeed.

Items needed include:

Crayons & Markers

And other school supplies!

I am reluctant and disappointed to announce that Ave's Lock and Key unfortunately will not be hosting a fireworks show for the 2026 year.

This is something that I have been fighting with myself over for the last month or so, and have tried to bring myself to just suck it up and do it, but honestly, I don't have it in me to put on the show this year.

I apologize for the late notice, and I hope that there's still time for our friends, family, neighbors, and clients to make other arrangements to have an awesome July 4th to celebrate this country's 250th birthday!

Anyway, for those that are still reading and are interested, this year has been a series of compounding issues that have kinda beat me up and kept our bank accounts smaller than I'd rather see them. Between the slimming profits from inflation and the rising costs of materials/subscriptions and us not wanting to raise our prices, the increased cost of fuel the last few months, having a van need over $10K worth of work to replace a transmission, and the $13K in lost inventory and $3K in glass from the break-in, I'm finding it hard to go out and buy $20K worth of fireworks this year and feel good about it.

All the same, it has been a pleasure putting on the last 5 shows, and this has been an awesome experience to share with our neighbors. I plan to regroup and do a better job at finding the motivation and the resources to come back strong for 2027.

I sincerely appreciate your understanding in this matter, I love you guys and I apologize for the disappointing news.
