Morrison-Maierle is proud to celebrate the Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport Runway 16/34 Pavement Maintenance Project as the Wyoming Airports Coalition's 2026 Airport Project of the Year. Morrison-Maierle’s project team included Jarad Koltiska, Patrick Stetson, Tim Wick, Scott Bell, Edison Elder, Kyle Muck, Terra Zowada, and summer intern Kinley Anderson.

Working in close partnership with Northeast Wyoming Regional Airport in Gillette, Wyoming, and Powder River Construction, the team renewed the airport’s primary runway, finishing under budget and two days ahead of schedule.

More than 50 miles of upstream habitat are being reconnected for native fish in the Spread Creek watershed near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Our work on the Spread Creek Fish Passage Project demonstrates how thoughtful engineering can restore aquatic connectivity while maintaining reliable irrigation delivery.

Learn how replacing a more than half-century-old barrier is helping create a more resilient watershed while continuing to serve agricultural water users. https://m-m.net/projects/spread-creek-fish-passage/

Dam and canal owners, do you have questions you've never had a good place to ask? BJ Cope will be on the "Ask an Engineer/Dam Owner Discussion" panel at the Montana Association of Dam and Canal Systems - MADCS conference this week.

The panel will dig into who's in charge during an emergency, lessons from recent case studies, how to read an inspection report, and how to scope and hire an engineer for your project.

Bring your questions or reach out to BJ anytime. https://bit.ly/4rMdWiy

UW grads have long been part of our team, and investing in students during the toughest stretch of their degree is one way we're helping grow the next generation of engineers. That's why we're happy to help support a sophomore or junior studying civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering each year. Go Pokes!

Morrison-Maierle, an engineering consulting firm with offices in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon and Washington, has created a new endowment to support students in the University of Wyoming College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Congratulations to Craig Nowak, a senior water-wastewater engineer in our Great Falls office, on reaching an incredible 35-year milestone with Morrison-Maierle!

Craig knew in junior high that he wanted to be a civil engineer—and to say that it’s worked out well is a major understatement. In addition to receiving the highest honor someone in his profession can receive—the George Warren Fuller Award—Craig has been working with the same client, the Oglala Sioux Tribe, for most of his career. The Mni Wiconi Rural Water Supply System is the largest Native American and tribal water project in the United States. It is designed to deliver safe drinking water from the Missouri River to parts of western and central South Dakota, including the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Thirty-four years with one client, although Craig's work has helped many other communities throughout the West, says everything about the kind of engineer and person he is: someone who shows up, does good work, and genuinely cares about the outcome.

From all of your friends here at Morrison-Maierle, here's to 35 years, Craig. We're grateful to be working together and learning from you!

What keeps Tyler Reed, PE, excited about airport engineering? The answer is simple: working with clients and the Morrison-Maierle team to solve challenges.

As Morrison-Maierle’s Kalispell/Missoula Region Airports Office Leader, Tyler helps airports across the Northwest navigate complex projects—from airfield design and pavement rehabilitation to lighting, drainage, and FAA-funded improvements. His recent work on the Missoula Montana Airport's Runway Rehabilitation Project highlights his dedication to finding practical, high-quality solutions that keep projects moving and serve the communities that rely on them.

Attending the NW Chapter AAAE Conference this week? Say hello to Tyler. He’d love to connect and talk airports, engineering, and upcoming projects. Or visit our website to learn more: https://bit.ly/4rrIKoz
