☀️ Summer Safety Tip: Check Your Outdoor Outlets! ☀️

Summer is right around the corner! Before you plug in the pressure washer, patio lights, or pool pumps, take a quick look at your outdoor outlets.

Are they equipped with GFCI protection ? 🔌

Outdoor outlets are exposed to rain, dew, and sprinkler systems. GFCI outlets instantly cut off power if water gets inside, preventing dangerous electrical shocks and protecting your home.

Quick checklist for this weekend:
✅ Make sure your outdoor outlets have weatherproof covers.
✅ Press the "Test" button to ensure your GFCIs are working properly.

We recently headed out to a beautiful historic neighborhood in Asheville to give this classic home a major electrical upgrade. Older homes are full of character, but their original electrical systems just weren't built for modern appliances, HVAC systems, and EV chargers.

Our team successfully upgraded their service to a safe, reliable 200-amp panel, ensuring this piece of Asheville history is ready for the future.

In honor of the brave heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, Cha Vin Electric will be closed on Monday, May 25th.

We are taking this day to pause, reflect, and give our amazing team a well-deserved day off to be with their families and friends. We are so incredibly grateful for our hardworking crew and for all of you, our wonderful community.

Lighting changes everything! If you’re planning a remodel or just a quick refresh, follow the Three Layers rule:

1️⃣ Ambient: Your main overhead light (think recessed cans or a central fixture). 🛋️
2️⃣ Task: Bright, focused light for specific jobs (under-cabinet lights in the kitchen or a desk lamp).
3️⃣ Accent: Lighting that creates a mood (wall sconces or lighting up a piece of art). 🖼️

Pro Tip: Use Dimmer Switches on all three layers. It gives you total control over the vibe of the room at any time of day! 🛠️

CURRENT FIXES: Is Your Outlet a Hazard? 🔍⚡️

Not all electrical issues are loud—some just "glow." If your outlets are acting up, look for these 3 red flags:

1️⃣ Discoloration: Any brown or charred marks on the faceplate? That's a heat sign.
2️⃣ Temperature: If it feels warm to the touch (even with nothing plugged in), something is wrong.
3️⃣ The "Wobble": If plugs fall out easily, it causes dangerous heat buildup.

Pro Tip: If you smell burning plastic or hear a "buzz," turn off the breaker immediately. Small fixes now prevent big emergencies later. 🛠️
