Cheryl Smith Associates Cheryl Smith Associates Residential and Commerical Interior Design Cheryl Smith has been a designer since 1980, opening her business in 1983.

From 1983 to 1989 she specialized in hospitality work and then broadened her range with medical, institutional, educational and high end residential. Cheryl graduated from the American Business and Fashion Institute in Charlotte, NC. She is a professional member of ASID, NCIDQ certified, and currently working to get legislation in NC and SC for the interior design profession. She is also a board member with the Community Foundation of Henderson County.

Check out this little then-and-now moment from the Cheryl Smith Associates archives. In 2020, Cheryl's grandson Luke was already helping her source rugs for clients during a visit to Togar Rugs. Fast forward six years, and Luke is back at it again—this time alongside his big brother, Tanner.

While the faces have grown up, our commitment to finding the perfect pieces for our clients remains exactly the same. We still believe that exceptional design starts with thoughtful selections, quality craftsmanship, and taking the time to find just the right fit for each home.

As summer settles in, we find ourselves spending more time gathered on porches, sharing meals with family and friends, and enjoying quiet moments surrounded by nature. Thoughtful outdoor design extends the way you live, creating seamless connections between home and landscape.

For this Biltmore Forest renovation, the screened porch was doubled in size, transforming it into an inviting indoor-outdoor retreat designed for entertaining and everyday enjoyment. Sydney is currently studying at Western Carolina University and joins us this summer as she explores where her passion for design may lead her. With a growing interest in residential design, she’s eager to gain hands on experience, discover new ideas, and learn more about the many paths a design career can take.

Beautiful design should work just as hard as it inspires. ✨

This new client project proves that functional spaces can still feel thoughtful, elevated, and full of personality. From the custom drop zone bench next to the garage entry to the built in dog crate tucked beneath the stair landing, every detail was designed with intentional living in mind.

And the finishing touch? 🎨 An ethereal landscape mural that transforms this everyday pass through space into something truly special.

Final day in London we ventured out to Brighton. Visited Brighton Royal Pavillon viewing the extravagant details and marveled! Also while in Brighton toured some artist studios, the favorite was beautiful wallcoverings and fabrics from Imogene Heath Interiors. I will be sharing more about her work in the near future! Headed home- looking forward to warmer weather as it was damp, windy and cool- so typical London.

Day 4 & 5 of London Craft Week. Started with City walk through some of the earliest parts of the city. Visited with stone masons at St Paul's Cathedral. Walked in rain by Buckingham Palace. Visited special showing at Westminister Abbey, enjoyed Garden Museum, met with extremely talented hand embroidery artist and finished with batik artist at Gallery 8 developing mood boards and beautiful batik fabrics. Such talent and history in this beautiful city!

First 2 days in London during London Craft Week. Visited the V & A museum to see the Schiaparelli exhibit. Had a workshop on paints made from the earth by Caroline Ross and visited Pimlico rd with the English design showrooms. We are immersed in tradition and loving all the details!
