This might be the most toxic advice in roofing: "It's all just metal, take the cheapest quote."

Two metal roofs can look similar from the road, and only one of them has a problem waiting around year eight.

On a through-fastened roof, the screws go through the top of the panel. The sun flexes the metal every day, and the screws work their way back out until the roof starts to leak. On standing seam, the fasteners are hidden under the panel, so there's nothing on top to back out. Order both in the same thickness of steel and the warranty gap still doesn't move: standing seam carries a 50 year warranty and we stand behind it for life, and tuff rib gets two years. Nobody warranties something for two years by accident.
