Rain falls on the roof. The roof is long pieces of metal. Each piece hooks onto the piece next to it, like holding hands. The things that hold the roof onto the house are hiding underneath, where the rain can't find them. So the rain slides all the way down and falls off the edge into the grass.

Your roof gets made a few feet from where it goes.

The rollformer comes out to the house loaded with the coil, and your panels get rolled and cut to the length of your roof right there. Fewer pieces overhead means fewer places anything can come apart down the road. Most people hear it running before they ever see a panel go up.
