What up! It’s Brent with HQ Plumbing here with my pal Lemonade. She runs a tight ship, she is very paws on and curious of all things in her kitchen cabinet.
She wouldn’t admit it, but I think she’s been putting too many big chunks of food down the garbage disposal, got it and the kitchen sink drain line all clogged up.
It’s a good thing she knows about HQ Plumbing, Hendersonville’s local plumbing company!
We unclogged the kitchen sink drain, replaced a very loose kitchen faucet, and a garbage disposal replacement.
Kitchen is back in action and now I’m craving a cold glass of Lemonade!

Morning glory folks, HQ Plumbing is here to help with your plumbing needs and wants!

Let’s talk about water filtration, it’s great to have your own water source on your property, but it’s not always as simple as it seems.

Well water doesn’t come pre-filtered into your home like city water, which means it typically carries minerals and sediment from the earth with it into your home plumbing system. Making it extremely important to know what’s coming in with your water and filtering out anything that may be harmful to your system.

Sediment in your water goes right to all your expensive fixtures, washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, faucets, and water heaters which makes sediment filtration a must have on well water.

There are things like acidic water and water hardness that also wreak havoc, and need to be filtered as…well. I strongly encourage you to get your water tested and combat these issues before they create more problems in the future.

My city water peeps, don’t feel left out! Pre-filtered water is great, but sediment coming through after water line breaks, or city projects is not uncommon, sediment filtration and of course chlorine (the city adds chlorine to sterilize the water) filtration are just as valuable for your home.

Does your sink drain slow? Does it end up on the flo?

HQ Plumbing here to remind you nothing lasts forever. If you haven’t been in your crawlspace in a while it might be time to take a look-see.

This house was built in the 60s so that means this cast iron kitchen drain was old enough to be my father. I’m glad it’s not, because it had to go!

You can see in one picture the bottom of the cast iron pipe starting to deteriorate, glad we got it replaced before disaster struck!

HQ Plumbing in the house!

Or more than likely under the house!!!

Let’s talk about thermal expansion, when water heats it starts to expand, that’s why you should have a thermal expansion tank on your home plumbing system. This small tank works with compressed air to give that build up of pressure a place to go, instead of increasing pressure in your pipes.

Once these things fail they fill with water, notice in the first picture how it’s sagging, and the weight of that tank is relying on those (rusted) threads. This is a common water heater repair in our area due to high pressure and old tanks.
