Falling leaves, heavier rain, changing temperatures, and eventually colder weather can expose exterior problems that went unnoticed during summer.

Reality: It's one of the biggest misconceptions about metal roofing.

The loud rain people remember usually comes from old barns, sheds, or other buildings where the metal was installed directly over open framing with little to no insulation.

A properly installed residential metal roof is completely different.

When installed over solid roof decking with quality underlayment, a metal roof is no louder than a traditional asphalt shingle roof. In many cases, homeowners don't notice any difference at all.

Not every roof leak starts with a missing shingle.

When homeowners notice water stains on the ceiling, they often assume a shingle blew off. While that can happen, many roof leaks actually begin in other areas of the roofing system.

Here are five common culprits:
🏠 Flashing
Flashing seals the areas around chimneys, walls, and roof transitions. If it becomes damaged or improperly installed, water can find its way inside.

🔧 Pipe Boots
The rubber seals around plumbing vents can crack and deteriorate over time, allowing water to seep through.

📐 Roof Valleys
Valleys handle a large volume of rainwater. If they're damaged or worn, leaks can develop quickly during heavy storms.

🔩 Nail Pops
As a roof expands and contracts with changing temperatures, nails can back out and create small openings where water enters.

🌬️ Roof Vents
