Today, we’re proud to celebrate Shawn Childress’ 30th anniversary with David E. Looper & Company!
Shawn began his career with DELCO as a general laborer, gaining hands-on experience tying rebar, pouring footings, preparing slabs, framing, setting trusses, installing trim, doors and hardware and much more. Over the past three decades, he has worked on projects from Kentucky to Florida, including many years traveling throughout the Southeast building Fresenius Dialysis facilities.
Throughout an incredible amount of change in our industry, from jobsite landlines and fax machines to smartphones and computers, Shawn has continued to adapt, lead and share his extensive construction knowledge with those around him.
We’re grateful for everything Shawn has contributed to David E. Looper & Company over the past 30 years and proud to celebrate this remarkable milestone with him. Congratulations, Shawn!

Our partnership with App State continues to create meaningful opportunities to connect with the next generation of construction professionals.

Recently, David E. Looper & Company welcomed App State’s Student Builders Association for a tour of one of our campus projects, coordinated by Project Manager Jarred Blanton. We were especially glad to have our recent intern Everett Honeycutt join the group and share in the experience. Everett is one of several interns, including Colton Phares, Cayden Sweatt, and Ben Gosky, who have gained hands-on experience working on our App State projects.

We’re grateful to Dr. Joyner of App State for her continued partnership and for creating opportunities for David E. Looper & Company to engage with App State students, from project tours to industry conversations like our company President Roger Young’s recent fireside chat with the SBA.

These experiences strengthen our relationship with the University while helping students connect what they learn in the classroom with the construction industry firsthand.

David E. Looper & Company Project Manager Zane Sneed recently traveled to Warroad, Minnesota, for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Marvin Windows facility, hosted by Drew Hayden of Southern Lumber, one of our valued partners in South Carolina.

Zane got an inside look at Marvin’s manufacturing process, explored how the company is integrating its products with smart-home technology and saw what’s ahead for the future of high-quality windows. He also learned how Marvin has grown since the early 1900s while continuing to prioritize its products, employees, customers and community. With approximately 2,000 employees in a town of just 1,800 people, the company’s impact is especially impressive.

We’re excited to use Marvin windows at one of our current projects, The Inlet at Seabrook Island. Thank you to Drew and Southern Lumber for the invitation and a great experience!

Office day… turned jobsite day! 👷🚧

Our office team traded desks for hard hats as we toured several of our Hickory and surrounding area projects. It was a great opportunity to see the progress being made, learn more about each project, and connect the work we do in the office with what’s happening in the field every day. To top it all off, we got to enjoy lunch at the new Backstreets in Newton!

There’s nothing like seeing a project in person, asking questions, and watching all the pieces come together. Thanks to our project teams for welcoming us on site—we’re proud to be part of bringing these projects to life!

We're proud to support the next generation of construction professionals!

This summer, Appalachian State football players Colton Phares and Cayden Sweatt joined the David E. Looper & Company team as interns while working on the App State Indoor Practice Facility. They gained valuable hands-on experience, bringing the same dedication and teamwork they show on the field to the jobsite.
