Today, I saw a post on one of the local pages that a roofing company we calling homeowners and telling them that they had recent wind damage and that the roof needing replacing. Even showing up at their roof telling them they had damage. People please be careful.
Sadly this happens a lot. In the roofing business we call them "storm chasers." Many fly by night companies from out of state , set up shop in areas where there may have recently been high winds, hail, or storm damage. Sadly they give honest roofers Like us, "Reeves Roofing and Repair" a bad name. They are usually pushy, and sometimes even show up on your property uninvited. We have had customers tell us, that they have found people on their roof without their knowledge. They have been known to tell people they have severe storm damage when they really have none. They sadlly will promise all kinds of things, even undercutting your local small town roofer. Then when it is time to pay your bill you will find it iss more because they magically found more damage. Then when your roof leaks after they leave or the shingles blow off and you call them to come back to repair it, guess what? They have left town and you are on your own. So you now call the local roofer who you didn't take his estimate or his word on your damage to fix what they messed up. I promise you this happens a lot. We get so many calls to repair a new roof that we didn't do, because of "storm chasers" who didn't know what they were doing. So please be very cautious. Most roofers will not call you or randomly stop to tell you that you have roof damage. Hopefully you will call your local, well established, hometown roofer who you can trust to be there if and when you need him.
