Here are our top tips we’re sharing with customers to get their garden through this tough heat!

1. Deep watering, early in the morning. Deep watering encourages stronger roots. Water early in the morning to reduce evaporation and help plants absorb moisture.

2. Skip unnecessary pruning. Summer heat is stressful enough on plants. Save major pruning for the right season unless you’re removing dead or damaged growth.

3. Fertilizing forces the plant to produce new, tender growth that burns easily.

4. Mulch cools the soil, blocks w**ds, and dramatically reduces water evaporation.

5. Setting up a shade cloth or sun barrier can help protect ripening fruit or sensitive crops from intense sun.

6. Harvesting early in the day reduces plant stress and prevents fruit rot.
