Over the past two weeks, the E3 team had the opportunity to attend the Summer Leadership Institute in both San Antonio and Fort Worth. These events provided a valuable opportunity to connect with school board members, superintendents, and educational leaders from across Texas, while engaging in meaningful conversations about the future of public education and school facilities.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit with us, attend our sessions, and share insights about the goals and challenges facing your districts. We always appreciate the opportunity to learn from the communities we serve and strengthen the relationships that help move great projects forward.

We're grateful for the connections made, the conversations had, and the chance to support Texas schools in creating environments where students and staff can thrive.

Deteriorating ductwork, humidity issues, and outdated controls were impacting classrooms across Hardin-Jefferson ISD. The district partnered with E3 to take action, and the Texas Energy Managers Association (TEMA) recently recognized the incredible transformation as the 2026 Project of the Year.

In our latest video case study, Fritz Deckard, Director of Maintenance and Custodial, explains how the partnership drastically improved learning environments. By implementing comprehensive HVAC and lighting upgrades, the district slashed its energy use intensity from approximately 138 kBtu/sf/year to a projected 28 to 31 kBtu/sf/year—outperforming the efficiency levels many newer facilities strive to achieve. Just as importantly, individual thermostat controls and upgraded lighting have virtually eliminated teacher comfort complaints.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Region 12 Summer Leadership Conference for our session: The Five Temptations of a Superintendent. Along with our regular presenters, we were lucky to be joined by three additional leaders who know these challenges firsthand: Dr. Brandon K. Hubbard, Superintendent at Chilton ISD; Shelli Stegall, Superintendent at Hico ISD; and Patrick Murphy, Deputy Executive Director of Region 12.

Their conversation got at something real: the messy, day-to-day work of leading in education, and why strong teams matter so much when you're navigating that complexity with students at the heart of every decision.

We're grateful to these leaders for being so open about what they've learned, and for sparking the kind of honest dialogue that helps all of us grow.

Behind the scenes of our upcoming case study video! We recently sat down to film the story behind our TEMA Project of the Year award-winning work at Hardin-Jefferson ISD.

We are incredibly proud to highlight this turnkey design-build retrofit at Sour Lake Elementary School. The project tackled comprehensive modernization—including full HVAC upgrades, integrated BAS controls, a total TPO roof replacement, and facility-wide LED upgrades—to improve student comfort and maximize long-term efficiency.

Last week, our Houston team spent time with Bread Of Life, packing relief boxes that will go straight back into the Houston community.

There’s something about working side-by-side on a simple, hands-on task that hits differently. It’s a reminder that showing up — even for a few hours — can matter a lot.

Thank you to the team at Bread Of Life for the work you do every day, and for letting E3 be a small part of it.

Public schools do more than educate. They serve as critical hubs for communities, especially in times of crisis.

TASBO's new documentary, Beyond the Classroom, highlights how school districts across Texas show up for their communities during hurricanes, flooding, public health emergencies, and other challenging moments. Leave it to TASBO to find a meaningful way to tell this story. It's a great reminder of the broader role school facilities play when communities need them most!

At E3, this resonates deeply with what we see in our work every day. School facilities aren't just buildings. They're essential infrastructure that communities rely on for safety, continuity, and support.

When Texans need help, they often look to public schools. Alpheus Media, in association with the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) produced a new documentary, “Beyond the Classroom,” to highlight the importance of public education in community safety and disaster relief.

Earlier this week, some of our team traded our usual workday for something different: we spent the day volunteering at The Stewpot in Dallas, a place that's been feeding, housing, and supporting our unhoused neighbors for 50 years.

It was one of those days that reminds you what matters. Our team showed up to help, but we left feeling grateful, grounded, and more connected to each other and our community.

We appreciated the opportunity to support the recent TASB regional workshop hosted at East Texas A&M University!

E3 participated in a discussion centered on “The 5 Temptations of Board Members,” alongside educational leaders including Dr. LaVelle Hendricks of Commerce ISD and Judd Marshall of Mount Pleasant ISD.

Beyond the presentation itself, events like these strengthen important conversations around leadership, governance, accountability, and the future of public education in Texas.
