Our team is making steady progress on a new 6-mile, 138kV transmission line in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. This project includes the installation of 38 steel monopoles on drilled shaft foundations, creating a reliable transmission line designed to serve the region for years to come.

Ever wonder why we're driving steel hundreds of feet into the ground?

H-piles are H-shaped steel beams designed to create deep, stable foundations for massive structures. They're driven through softer soil until they reach dense soil or bedrock, allowing them to safely transfer the weight of facilities like power plants, bridges, and water treatment plants deep into the earth.

For power generation projects, H-piles provide the strength and stability needed to support heavy equipment, turbines, structural steel, and other critical infrastructure for decades to come. From power generation facilities to transportation and municipal projects, our experienced pile driving crews have installed tens of thousands of piles over the past three decades, building strong foundations that stand the test of time.

We were honored to celebrate the recent grand opening of the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Campus Expansion in East St. Louis, Illinois.

This transformative design-build project represents a significant investment in the future of the community, creating new opportunities for athletics, education, and hands-on learning. The expanded campus features a new turf football field, two sod football fields, a turf softball field, a sod softball field, the revitalization of an existing baseball field, a new soccer mini-pitch, and campus-wide parking and pedestrian improvements. The project also includes an innovative grow space designed to support agricultural education and sustainability, featuring a pressurized greenhouse, two hoop houses, and outdoor garden planting areas.

At the heart of the campus stands the 26,000-square-foot Innovation Center, a dynamic hub for learning and collaboration. The facility includes conference and office spaces, an expansive atrium, five classrooms, a science lab, a learning kitchen, a media room, an engineering lab, and multiple open-concept collaborative learning environments.

Together, these new facilities will empower students, families, and community members through expanded access to athletics, education, and experiential learning opportunities for years to come.

Today marks the 30th anniversary of Jerry Holzinger being part of the Plocher Construction team! In honor of this incredible milestone, we would like to recognize Jerry for his dedication and leadership throughout the years.

Over the course of his career, Jerry has led countless successful projects, including the Chuck Fruit Aquatic Center, John Davis Wrestling Facility, Prairie Farms Headquarters and now the Prairie Farms Expansion, Legacy Place senior living facilities, Sparta World Shooting Complex, Scott Air Force Base Office Buildings, Park North Golf Club, various Illinois American Water projects, multiple FCB Bank facilities, our very own warehouse, and many other local municipality improvements.

Jerry is known for his knowledge, determination, and loyalty. He takes pride in his work and is respected for the mentorship he has provided throughout the years. Thank you, Jerry, for the past 30 years of dedication to Plocher Construction. We are grateful for everything you have contributed to Plocher Construction’s success!
