One of the churches where Hamilton Contractors had the privilege of rescuing a historic high altar and ambo from closed churches is now receiving recognition from preservation groups and other organizations.

Our team carefully restored these sacred pieces, preserving their beauty and historical significance. To complement the restored high altar, we also designed and built a new lower altar that matched the original craftsmanship and architectural style of the sanctuary.

Seeing this project gain attention is a testament to the importance of preserving our religious heritage. We are honored to have played a role in giving these historic liturgical furnishings a new life, allowing them to continue serving the faithful for generations to come.

At Hamilton Contractors, we occasionally have the opportunity to work on projects that are both challenging and historically significant.

One of our current projects is at the beautiful St. Joseph Cathedral in downtown Columbus, where restoration work is underway on the church’s ceilings, exterior masonry, and historic windows. The project includes power washing, tuck-pointing, masonry repairs, and window restoration.
Because construction activities above and around the sanctuary create the potential for dust and debris, the Diocese of Columbus asked Hamilton Contractors to develop a protective enclosure for the cathedral’s historic pipe organ. Protecting this instrument presented a unique challenge due to its massive size, approximately 29 feet wide and 40 feet tall and the limited space surrounding it.

Our team designed and constructed a custom protective enclosure that shields the organ from construction debris while incorporating a ventilation system that allows the instrument to continue operating and be played during weekend liturgies.

Projects like this require creativity, careful planning, and respect for the historic treasures entrusted to our care. We are proud to help preserve an important piece of the cathedral’s history while restoration work continues.

Over the years, Hamilton Contractors has had the privilege of working in schools and churches across Ohio and the surrounding states. We wanted to take a moment to share some of the work we have completed for these great communities.

Many of these projects have been especially meaningful to us, as they allowed our team to work on buildings that are more than 100 years old. Being trusted to help maintain, restore, and improve these historic places of worship and education has truly been a blessing for our company.

For the past three years, Hamilton Contractors has focused primarily on serving our commercial and church clients, intentionally phasing out the residential side of our business.
