$300 Off an In-Home Lighting Design Consultation | Portland & Beaverton

Planning a remodel or new build? Before you pick fixtures, get a lighting plan from the people who'll actually wire it.

Our master electrician will come to your home, walk the space with you, and put together a complete lighting design: where every fixture goes, how to layer ambient, task, and accent light, dimmers and smart controls, all built to Oregon code and ready to install.

The consultation is normally $499. With our $300-off coupon, it's just $199 out of pocket.

It's a good fit for homeowners planning kitchen, bath, or whole-home projects, and for interior designers and architects who want a licensed electrician's input early, before walls close up.

Because the person designing your lighting knows exactly how to build it, there are no surprise change orders and no back-and-forth between a designer and an installer. When you're ready, we can install it too.

How to get it: request your coupon at nexuselectricalgroup.com/coupon. We'll email it to you within 2 to 3 days, and it's good for 90 days. Then call (971) 410-7073 to book your visit.

Another 200 Amp service upgrade completed on an older NE Portland home. ⚡️

With service upgrades, we’re not just thinking about how the electrical system performs—we’re also thinking about how the finished installation looks on the home. On older Portland houses especially, conduit routing, equipment placement, and overall aesthetics matter. The goal is to make a major electrical upgrade look intentional, clean, and as unobtrusive as possible.

We also design with the future in mind. This service was set up with distribution at the meter as well as the main breaker panel, giving the homeowner more flexibility for future electrical additions without having to completely rethink the service later.

That extra capacity and distribution can make future projects much easier, including:

⚡ EV charging
☀️ Solar installation
🏠 Remodels and additions
🔥 Heat pumps and other electric appliances
🔌 Additional circuits and future electrical upgrades

A service upgrade should solve today’s needs while preparing the home for what comes next.

Most kitchen remodels get the cabinets right — and the lighting wrong.
We just wrapped the lighting on a kitchen remodel for a new customer in [Beaverton], and it's proof that light is what makes a kitchen feel finished.
Here's the 3-layer recipe we used (steal it for your own remodel):
Recessed LEDs overhead — even, shadow-free light across the whole kitchen.
Under-cabinet lighting — bright light right on the countertop, where you actually chop and prep.
Pendants over the island — the jewelry. It's what makes people say "wow" when they walk in.
Then everything goes on dimmers: bright for Tuesday-night homework, low and warm for Saturday dinner.
Pro tip: plan the lighting BEFORE the drywall goes up. It's far cheaper than opening up walls later.

Just finished this ChargePoint install for a homeowner in Portland.
They'd been charging off a regular wall outlet for months. That gets you about 4 miles of range per hour — barely enough to keep up with a daily commute.
The ChargePoint we installed? Up to 37 miles of range per hour. Plug in after dinner, wake up to a full battery. Every day.
Before mounting anything, we ran a free assessment of the home's peak power demand to make sure the panel could handle the load. No guesswork. No tripped breakers.

Last week, a Portland homeowner bought an EV charger.
One problem: their 125-amp panel couldn't handle the extra load.
A Level 2 charger can pull 40–60 amps on its own. Add that to an older panel that's already running your heat, dryer, and kitchen — and there's no headroom left.
So we upgraded their service from 125 amps to 200 amps and installed the charger. Now the car charges overnight, with room to spare for whatever comes next.
Quick way to check your own home: open your panel and look at the big main breaker at the top. If it says 100 or 125, your home probably isn't EV-ready yet.
Want to know for sure? Comment "EV" and I’ll send you our free EV-Charger Readiness Checklist — 7 things to check before you buy a charger.
P.S. Already know your panel needs help? We’re taking $300 off a service right now — grab the coupon here: https://www.nexuselectricalgroup.com/coupon

Ain’t no light high enough.

That’s one of our electricians — 120 feet above the Portland Expo Center, changing out a light at the top of the iconic “expo” sign.

Some lights need a step ladder.
Some need a boom lift, a harness, and nerves of steel.
Either way: if it’s out, we’re changing it.

Most days you’ll find us a little closer to the ground installing EV chargers, upgrading electrical panels, and setting up backup generators for homeowners around Beaverton and Portland.

So if you’ve got a flickering light, a breaker that keeps tripping, or a project you keep putting off — trust us, it’s not too big. We literally have no ceiling.

Call or text 971-410-7073 for a free estimate. We’ll bring a ladder. Probably.

Planning a patio, walkway, or outdoor living space? Read this before the concrete truck shows up.

The best hardscape lighting is the kind you never notice. You just walk outside at night and the whole space feels intentional.

That doesn't happen at the fixture. It happens weeks earlier — before the pour.

Our master electrician, Nic Valentine, just finished a custom hardscape lighting design that shows exactly what that takes:

• A 24-volt low-voltage system with architectural-grade WAC step lights
• Every light box laser-laid and set dead flush before the concrete is poured
• Every conduit bend engineered so the wire pulls effortlessly
• Elevations verified and every measurement calculated to the fraction

Why so obsessive? Because concrete is unforgiving. Once it's poured, there are no second chances.

This is the work nobody notices when it's done right — and everybody notices when it isn't.

Pouring concrete this year? Get the lighting designed FIRST. Call or text 971-410-7073 for a free estimate. Licensed, 30 years serving the Portland metro (Oregon CCB #226988).

Beaverton homeowners: quick question — can you shut off ALL the power to your house with one switch?
If your panel looks like the “before” photo, the answer is no.

This is a split-bus panel. Instead of one main breaker, the power is split across up to six. To kill everything, you're flipping several breakers — in an emergency, that's a problem.

Why these get replaced:
• No single main shutoff — a real safety issue if there's ever a fire or a shock.
• They're from the '60s–'70s and usually maxed out — no room for an EV charger, heat pump, or AC.
• They often get flagged by home inspectors and insurance companies.

Swipe to the after. Same house, one modern panel with a single main breaker, every circuit labeled, and space to grow for the next 30 years.

Want to know if yours is a split-bus? Comment PANEL and we'll send our free checklist: “5 Signs Your Electrical Panel Is Overdue for an Upgrade.”
Rather just ask us? Call or text 971-410-7073 for a free estimate.
