Today I want to talk about wooden posts and rotting wood.
We live in an area where wood will eventually rot when placed below grade. It is the most common failure point on aging Post Frame buildings

If you are being told sleeves will work and are cheaper, they will only delay the inevitable. Most builders drill a hole in the bottom of the sleeves when installing to allow water to drain out. It also allows water to seep in. Also, We all know plastic will eventually become brittle and crack allowing water to come in contact with the wood. Water will result in rot. It’s inevitable.
