Lake Oswego Roof Replacement

A reminder that repairs don’t always solve the underlying issue.

This roof had been replaced and later repaired, but those repairs didn’t address the problem—they ended up leading to damage in the roof deck below.

Once we opened things up, it was clear the surface needed to be addressed properly before moving forward. We replaced the damaged decking to create a solid foundation, added upgraded rooftop inflow ventilation, and then installed a complete roofing system built for long-term protection.

Short-term fixes can turn into bigger problems. A complete system done right is what protects a home long term.

After removing the old roofing materials we discovered several areas of water-damaged decking that needed to be replaced.

Proper roof replacements involve more than just shingles. We replaced compromised plywood and installed a full synthetic underlayment system to protect the home moving forward.

We recently completed this roof replacement in NE Portland after first being called out to inspect damage from a tree limb that had impacted the roof.

After the inspection, we walked the homeowner through three options — a temporary repair, a partial solution, or a full roof replacement.

They ultimately decided to move forward with a full replacement to ensure the home was properly protected long term.

For the new roof, they selected GAF Timberline HDZ shingles in Slate, installed with our Signature Roof Package.

We also upgraded the home with additional rooftop inflow ventilation to help balance attic airflow and support the long-term performance of the roofing system.

Roof Inspection in NE Portland

This home reached, based on a referral from a past client, after a tree limb fell onto the roof during a recent storm.

The roof is about 23 years old and the branch impact pushed through the shingles and plywood while also pulling the chimney counter flashing loose.

During the inspection we also found significant granule loss across the roof, which is common on roofs reaching the end of their service life.

The homeowner asked about repair options to try and get another year or two out of the roof, so we provided three paths forward:

• Temporary repair to seal the damaged area
• Replacement of the lower roof section
• Full roof replacement

Situations like this are common in Portland neighborhoods with mature trees. Sometimes a temporary repair can buy time while homeowners plan for a full replacement.

North Portland Roof Inspection

We recently completed a roof inspection for a homeowner in North Portland after being referred to us by someone familiar with our work.

The homeowner had recently been notified that their homeowners insurance policy was canceled due to the roof being at the end of its service life.

During our inspection we identified several issues contributing to the roof’s condition:

• Extensive moss growth across multiple roof slopes
• Gutters packed with debris causing water backup
• Aging shingles no longer shedding water properly
• Interior roof decking showing signs of past moisture intrusion

When roofs reach this stage, insurance companies will often require replacement before coverage can be reinstated.

Because of this, the homeowner needs the roof replaced quickly so they can secure a new insurance policy, and we’re currently preparing the replacement plan.
