Hill Plumbing Service would like to remind everyone with severe weather quickly approaching this weekend!
1. Drip your faucets, if they are on the exterior wall, I highly recommend a steady stream. Open your cabinets also to let heat in on exterior walls.
2. Wrap your exterior faucets with a towel, duck tape and plastic bag to hold heat, we will be beyond the little covers, but if you have the covers pack insulation or hay in them. Remove any hoses attached to them.
3. Pack your water meter box and valve box(customer cut off) full of insulation or hay).
4. Turn your sprinkler system off and drain down.
5. Tankless water heaters on the exterior of your house do have ceramic heat warmers on the heat exchanger but what freezes is the valves under that so please pack insulation under the heater.
6. Well houses put a heat lamp in them and insulate the well head, pressure tank etc.
7. If your washing machine is on a exterior wall then more then likely you have a p-trap in the wall so I recommend taking the washer hoses off and putting in the drain and dripping/streaming water so the p-trap doesn’t freeze and cause lots of damage.
