We’re proud to celebrate this year’s graduating vocational and technical school students and the next generation of skilled trades professionals.

Each year, we have the privilege of sponsoring outstanding students through Signing Day and welcoming them into our apprenticeship program. Their dedication, work ethic, and commitment to learning have already set them apart, and we’re excited to support them as they begin their careers in the electrical industry.

As they transition to an apprenticeship, they’ll gain hands-on experience, mentorship from experienced professionals, and opportunities to build a rewarding career in the union electrical construction industry.

Congratulations on your graduation and welcome to the McDonald Electrical team. We look forward to watching you learn, grow, and help build the future alongside us!

McDonald Electrical Corporation’s Rhode Island division, ANJ Electric, delivered critical electrical upgrades to enhance the long-term performance of the Davey Lopes Recreation Center in Providence, RI.

Working alongside BH+A and Allied Consulting Engineering Services, our team installed a new electrical service, switchgear, and emergency power system—all while maintaining operations in an active recreation center.

Despite mid-project challenges, including a generator redesign and coordination across concurrent construction efforts, our team delivered with precision, adaptability, and strong collaboration.

We’ve reached an important project milestone at the new MBTA Bus Maintenance Facility in Quincy with the energization of the 13.8 kV Switchhouse. Housing the facility’s medium-voltage electrical distribution lineup, AC Control Room, and Battery Energy Storage System, the switchhouse now serves as the central hub of the site’s electrical infrastructure.

This milestone allows utility power from National Grid to be distributed throughout the site via the facility’s two main electrical lineups, supporting building operations and electric bus charging infrastructure. It marks a major step toward commissioning the facility and advancing the MBTA’s transition to an all-electric bus fleet.

Over the past several months, our crews have continued advancing the project with installation of Heliox charging infrastructure, power distribution systems, and associated electrical equipment across the facility.

Recent progress includes:
-Installation of the overhead pantograph charging system throughout the bus storage area
-Pulling and terminating power and control cabling for charging equipment and building systems
-Completing connections within unit substations, switchgear lineups, and charging infrastructure
-Installing final devices and finishes throughout office, maintenance, and support spaces
-Preparing systems for startup, testing, and commissioning activities throughout the summer

McDonald Electrical is proud to be part of the highly visible CITGO sign replacement project alongside Suffolk and CITGO Petroleum Corporation.

Our team is currently supporting the dismantling of existing power and wiring systems, along with installing new conduit and wiring infrastructure for the future sign location. It’s exciting to contribute to a project tied to one of Boston’s most recognizable landmarks.

Great work by our field team as they continue moving this project forward safely and efficiently.

Our team recently donated both material and labor to complete critical electrical upgrades for woodworking shop in Roxbury. Our work included the installation of a new 100-amp, 120/208V 3-phase subpanel and new branch circuits to safely support the shop’s equipment and tools.

Projects like this are especially meaningful because they create opportunities that extend far beyond the jobsite. Our Service Foreman Dan led the effort alongside Manny, a recent YouthBuild Boston graduate who assisted on the project. Manny is currently in the application process for IBEW Local 103, and we’re excited to see him pursue a future in the electrical industry.

We’re proud to support the incredible mission of YouthBuild Boston and invest in the future of the skilled trades within our communities. We believe in the importance of supporting workforce development, creating pathways into the trades, and giving back to the communities where we live and work.

Thank you to YouthBuild Boston for the partnership and the important work you do every day!
