Meet Jim, an estimator at T2! Jim joined the T2 team back in 2019, as a project manager before stepping into the project estimator role about four years ago.
As an estimator, Jim's job is all about turning a client's dream into something buildable while making sure the numbers align with the vision. Jim starts from as little as a one-page sketch, and works closely with clients and architects throughout the design process to produce a conceptual budget. Once a project has the go-ahead, Jim manages purchase orders, hires subcontractors, reviews invoices, and oversees any design or cost changes that come up throughout the project life cycle.
"We're taking a customer's idea for what they want their project to be and trying to make that a reality physically, but also we’re taking what they dream of and making it a reality within their budget," said Jim.
He enjoys that his everyday work blends together both numbers and construction, and offers the challenge of working with rough, early-stage concepts to produce accurate cost analysis for clients. The accomplishment of winning a bid, and the satisfaction of wrapping up a project that the client loved while coming in on or under budget is what gives him purpose in his role. For Jim, the ultimate goal on every project is doing the best that he and his team can do for the client.
Outside of work, he can be found with his wife cheering on one of his three boys at their baseball games. When the season finishes up, the family can be found traveling to a new national park as they try to check them off their bucket list.
