OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM DC HAULING EXCAVATING & GRAVEL DRIVEWAY SPECIALISTS, INC.
Well, here we are — standing at the start of a new year, and the end of a 13-year journey.
After 13 years of blood, sweat, gravel, and grit, we’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to officially end operations at DC Hauling.
This wasn’t a decision made overnight.
It’s not because we gave up.
And it sure as hell isn’t because we didn’t fight hard enough.
The truth is simple:
We poured more into this business than it was ever able to give back — emotionally, physically, and financially.
And no amount of hustle can outrun math — or burnout.
At some point, you’ve got to stop digging the hole, look around, and ask:
Is this still building our future... or just burying us in it?
Turns out, our answer was clear:
It’s time to move on.
🛑 To breathe.
🛠️ To reset.
🌱 To heal.
💡 To rebuild something new — something that gives back to us the way we’ve always given to others.
We’re choosing a new chapter —
✔️ Fewer 24-hour shifts
✔️ More time in the sunshine
✔️ Less survival mode
✔️ More living
✔️ More time with family
To the people who made this wild ride possible:
To Daniel Colella — our selfless Director of Operations who led from the front every single day.
The one who taught, guided, and got the work done — no matter what it took.
Your grit, loyalty, and sacrifice built the backbone of this business.
There’s no DC Hauling without you. We love you, and we are so proud of everything you poured into this company.
To Bob — who’s been in the trenches with us from day one, helping run this business like it was his own:
We couldn’t have done this without you. You believed in the dream, and you never stopped showing up. Thank you.
To Jeremy — our powerhouse behind the scenes, managing marketing from halfway around the world:
We’re not done, friend. You’re family. This chapter may be closing, but our story isn’t.
To our clients, neighbors, and community — who trusted us with your driveways, your land, your homes, and your hard-earned dollars:
You gave us the chance to do work that mattered. Thank you for that.
We’ll always be proud of what we built, even if it didn’t end the way we imagined.
Because the truth is: we gave it everything.
And now, we’re choosing to give ourselves something too.
💛 Thank you for the memories.
💛 Thank you for the trust.
💛 Thank you for the ride.
See you out there,
— Heather & Dan Colella
