It’s completely normal to see a fawn lying alone in tall grass or landscaping this time of year. 🦌🌿
Mother deer often leave their fawns hidden while they go off to feed nearby. Fawns are born with very little scent, and staying still and quiet helps protect them from predators. In most cases, the mother is close by and will return when she feels it’s safe.
As tempting as it may be to get closer or pet a fawn, it’s important to leave it exactly where you found it. Approaching a hidden fawn can draw unwanted attention from predators, pets, or people and may actually put the baby deer at greater risk.
If the fawn appears calm, quiet, and uninjured, the best thing you can do is simply give it space and let nature do its thing. 💚
