DOC is proud to celebrate the topping off of the Middleborough Gas & Electric Operations Building in partnership with Skanska and Weston & Sampson. This 12,500 SF project is converting an 1889 brick building with thoughtfully integrated design and construction to create a modern, unified facility for customer service, engineering, and electric operations. Once complete, the project will support essential utility functions while honoring the site’s historic character.

As a follow-up to our previous post, here’s the answer key to our “Spot the Hazard” poster created for Construction Safety Week. While the illustration is meant to be fun, it highlights real risks that can exist on a construction site. Staying alert, working together, and looking out for one another every day is how we keep our jobsites safe for everyone.

As Construction Safety Week comes to a close, we're proud to share our Spot the Hazard challenge.

Each of our construction sites was equipped with a hazard recognition poster and challenged to identify as many potential dangers as possible. Hazard recognition is a critical component of any strong safety program. By proactively identifying risks before they lead to incidents, our teams help protect workers and strengthen safety and health outcomes across every project we manage.

How many hazards can you find? List your number in the comments. We will post the answers in a few days.

Thank you to everyone who participated this week. Safety is not a one-week initiative — it's the foundation of everything we build.

In honor of Construction Safety Week, we're proud to celebrate our annual Rigging Rodeo Competition! This year, the Rodeo traveled to two incredible jobsites — the Shaker Museum in Chatham, NY and the Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp Training Annex in Lake Katrine, NY — where competitors put their skill, precision, and safety knowledge to the test by rigging a unique metal object to a level point. Proper rigging isn't just technique; it's a critical safety practice that protects every worker on site, and the Rigging Rodeo is our way of making that message stick. Top finishers took home DOC-branded cowboy hard hats, with the first-place winner also receiving an RTIC soft cooler. Congratulations to all who competed! 🤠

This Construction Safety Week, we were glad to welcome our partners at United Rentals to our job sites for hands-on safety demonstrations focused on air quality best practices. Their team walked our crews through proper equipment use and exposure awareness in a way that makes a real difference on the ground. It's exactly the kind of partnership that helps us build a stronger safety culture — one site at a time.

Construction Safety Week is off to a fantastic start!

We kicked off the week with breakfast across our project sites, followed by safety training, expert demos, and friendly competition. Monday's Toolbox Talk focused on proactive hazard recognition, and project sites were joined by United Rentals and Travelers Insurance for on-site demos covering air quality and crane safety. Our DOC Safety Team led fire extinguisher demos at select sites, and we hosted a Rigging Rodeo, which brought out some serious team spirit.

We're proud of the culture our teams and trade partners build together every day — where safety is never a checkbox, it's a commitment. To everyone on our job sites this week and every week: Be Careful Today.

Stay tuned for more during the week!

It’s Day 1 of Construction Safety Week, and we’re proud to recognize the dedicated DOC Safety Team for the critical work they do every day to keep our projects and people safe. Thank you to Scott Sattler, Charlie Goulet, Pat Whelan, Ryan Colwell, and Kelly Battles, along with our Florida team members Carlos Oliveira and Nicholas Lopez-Lima, for their leadership and commitment across all our jobsites.

In addition to their daily efforts in the field, this team plays a key role in making Safety Week a success each year. One of their contributions is assembling Safety Week care packages for every project site. These photos offer a behind-the-scenes look at that process and what goes into preparing them.
