As the temps continue to drop, be sure to take preventative measures to keep your pipes from bursting:

DO:
✅ keep a faucet on each end of the house dripping — preferably one on hot and one on cold.
✅ cover hose bibs with a faucet cover. If you don’t have one, a towel inside a grocery sack duck taped around the hose bib works too.
✅ open cabinet doors in kitchens and bathrooms to allow heat to move towards pipes inside the house.
✅ disconnect garden hoses from their hose bibs.
✅ grab a few heat trace cords from your local hardware store if you’re able to - while not necessary, it’s a good preventative step to have on hand.
✅ call us if you discover a pipe in need of repair 205.240.3722

DON’T:
❌ DON’T turn off the water at the street or else you risk creating a closed loop that is now holding water (if you do decide turning the water off at the street is the best course of action, be sure to drain any residual water from the pipes leading to and inside the house)

⭐️ remember, pipes can freeze without bursting - so keeping a “dry” faucet dripping provides the residual water an escape route for when it thaws.
