Mosquitoes may actually prefer certain blood types. Studies show people with Type O blood get bitten nearly twice as often as those with Type A.

But blood type isn't the whole story. Sweat, body heat, and the CO2 you breathe out all factor in too. So even if you're not Type O, you're not off the hook.

Q: When does mosquito season actually end in our region?

A: Mosquitoes do not disappear until North Georgia experiences consistent cold weather. Activity drops significantly when daily temperatures stay below 50°F, which usually happens between mid-October and early November.

Q: Are mosquitoes more dangerous in the late summer?

A: Yes. Late August through September is the peak historical window for West Nile virus transmission in Georgia. This makes consistent use of repellent critical during these weeks, along with proper lawn care and treatment.
