This is the City of Hot Springs Utilities Department. The Utility Department will be making a water main repair on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. This work may cause water customers to experience discolored water for a short period of time. If you are experiencing discolored water please postpone laundry as the discolored water can stain clothes. This discoloration is due to minerals in the pipe and usually lasts no more than a few hours. This affects only the appearance of the water, not the taste or quality and is safe to drink. If discoloration lasts more than 24 hours, contact the Utilities Department at 501-321-6200

I always have told my Customers that pex can freeze and bust, Very unlikely but possible, it has to be the right conditions and scenario. This is the first time I have ever seen it Actually do it. If this would have been insulated it would have might have been fine. Everything I have seen bust this season has been no fault from any manufacture but unlicensed installers who did not install correct, or by people not shutting vents. These are facts just an FYI

Close your vents in the winter. 5 min will save you. I can’t tell you how many we have been seeing.

If you woke up this morning with frozen pipes this may help, make sure all your out side vents are shut. Any gaps in around house, close them. Open cabinet doors to sinks. Heat to areas where pipes are located will help. “Do not burn your house down”. If you have some water on hot or cold side run it it will help thaw out rest. Remember hot freezes faster then cold. Frozen pipes often end up being busted pipes so be aware when defrosting on how to shut it off just in case.
