We showed you downstairs, so it’s only fair we take you upstairs too!

Here’s another look inside the hybrid Princeton that’s currently under construction.

With the framing still exposed, you can get a different perspective on the upstairs layout and start to picture how these spaces will look once everything is finished.

Time to take a trip to Pennsylvania to deliver a log home.

Here is a look at a modified Princeton.

One of the nice things about building a hybrid home is the flexibility you have with finishes for both the exterior and interior.

There’s something satisfying about watching a log being peeled.

This one is being prepared to become a roof purlin, one of the log beams that help support the roof of a log home.

And in a home with exposed purlins, you’ll see them overhead in the cathedral ceiling.

Just another day here at the Ward mill in Maine.

Modified Princeton update. We got some photos and video (to come later) of this project yesterday. Framing is all done, roof on, log siding being stained before being installed and windows/doors to go in soon. Vogel Construction is doing a great job and coming right along.

Today we got to take a trip and see the ongoing construction of a modified Camden on the ocean. The homeowner went with Q8 medium gold for the stain.

It won’t be long before the interior is finished and for them to enjoy their beautiful home.

Can you add on to a log home? Absolutely, we do it all the time. Here is one currently under construction in Maine, being added to a 1963 Ward home.

10/15/2026

Project update! Construction crew is working away to get this modified Princeton weather-tight so they can begin work on the interior.

The homeowner went with Ward’s hybrid package that still features roof purlins. We are excited to see what the homeowners have in store with finishes on the inside.

There's a reason we put a flat on our purlins.

When the roof goes on, that flat gives the first roof boards a level surface to sit on.

It’s one of those little details we take care of here at the mill before the logs head to the job site.

A small part of the process, but an important one.

One of our clients sent us photos of their recently finished custom log cabin. And it turned out great. Small, cozy, and on the ocean, what more could you ask for?!
