Meter base, fused disconnect, wireway, all on a strut rack set plumb and level, conduit stubbed up clean out of the ground. Nothing hanging off a post, nothing zip-tied. This is what a new equipment service looks like when it's done right the first time and the inspector doesn't have to come back.

Halloween lights this week, Christmas lights in a month. Before any of it gets plugged in outside:

Every outdoor outlet should be a GFCI, the kind with the test and reset buttons. It cuts the power in a fraction of a second if water gets where it shouldn't. If yours doesn't have the buttons, or it has them and the test button does nothing, it needs replacing.
