Job Description
Job Title: Survey Rodman
Reports to: Survey Party Chief
Classification: Full-Time, Non-exempt, Hourly
Company Summary: Dart Land Services is a fully licensed fast growing commercial and residential survey company with more than twenty years of experience in the real estate and land services industry.
Position Summary: This is routine technical work assisting in survey fieldwork. Work is performed in accordance with prescribed and well-established procedures. An employee assigned to this classification performs entry level surveying and should be familiar with all surveying techniques used for surveying.
The candidate will gain experience in all aspects of the profession including construction layout, topographic surveys, elevation certificates, ALTA surveys, and boundary surveys. Candidate should like working outdoors with tolerance to heat and cold, be able to climb hills, and carry at least 25 pounds. Our work is local and does not require overnight travel. We are only seeking individuals with a can-do attitude, great people skills, hard work ethic, teamwork mindset, and love for the outdoors.
Familiarity with survey instruments, AutoCAD training, construction, survey or farm-related
training/experience will all help you in being successful in this role, but they are not required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Ensure the safety of all crew members, clients, and the public.
• Ensure that all equipment needed is loaded and ready to use.
• Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained.
• Maintain adequate supplies in the truck.
• Keep truck and equipment clean and organized.
• Carry survey supplies during the collection of necessary survey data.
• Place stakes at designated points and drives them into the ground at specified elevation, using hammer or hatchet.
• Cut and clear brush and trees for data collection, using brush hook, knife, ax, or other cutting tools.
• Timely and regular attendance is essential.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Performs mathematical calculations and field checking of field data
• Reads and understands plans and specifications
• Know basic sources of measurement errors
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Dig ground using a pick, shovel and other hand tools to search for and locate survey monuments
• Hold and plum rod in obtaining elevations and distances
• Drive stakes to set grades on construction projects
• Provide quality seamless customer service
• Know, understand and demonstrate safe working/operating methods of assigned tools and equipment

• Ability to walk long distances over rough terrain while carrying survey equipment.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, dealing effectively and reasonably with stress in the workplace without lost time or undue strain. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee may be asked to walk on uneven surfaces, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, hike up and down steep slopes carrying up to 50 pounds of survey equipment, bend, squat, dig monument holes, pound in stakes and rebar monuments, carry and use brush cutting equipment, drive a four-wheeler, climb stairs, sit for extended periods of time, work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time, type/key-in data, and answer telephones frequently as needed. The employee will be required to adhere to the company's policies, safety plan and the project safety plan.

AutoCad Draftsman:

Position Summary: This position is responsible for the design and drafting of boundary surveys, topographic surveys, plats and other land survey requests utilizing Autocad.

Plots maps and charts showing profiles and cross-sections, indicating relation of topographical contours and elevations to buildings, retaining walls, tunnels, overhead power lines, and other structure; drafts detailed drawings of structures employing structural reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, wood and other structural material; produces plans and details of foundations, building frame, floor and roof framing and other structural elements; may accompany survey crew in field to locate grading markers or to collect data required for revision of construction drawings; performs additional assignments as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following:

Draft architectural drawings, elevations, and other details as required to fulfil residential and commercial survey requests using the current release of Autocad.
Ability to complete survey order from acceptance to final drawing independently.
Job calculation / review of field crew notes.

Minimum of two years drafting experience or equivalent combinations of experience and training.
AutoCAD or Carlson experience.
Knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of land surveying.
Demonstrate attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Ability to handle multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.

Work Environment: This is a high growth, fast paced small organization. The ability to be productive and successful in a rapidly changing environment is critical as this position requires a significant level of initiative and little micromanagement.
