Do any of you have information on a supposed scam that involved blasting and coating Kabota tractor wheels. I remember a vague conversation about it within the Dustless Blasting Group. I was contacted by a Jason Campbell with Dillon Gage Metals Division and I'm sitting here with a Check for almost 7K. But something just doesn't seem right. Let me know ASAP.

Just checking with everyone on where they would be on this project we just finished. Blast only, inside was NACE #2 Near White, outside was NACE #3 Commercial Blast. The tank is 30' long by 11' tall, and 11' wide. The channel iron is 6" and the total linear footage is 685', roughly 550 sq ft. How many days to blast working 10 hour days. Plus blast media had to be removed each day so the shop could come in and paint the bare metal. What would be your ballpark price? Plus let me know what you blast equipment you use.

Where is everyone roughly on price per linear foot on iron fencing? Your help on this would be greatly appreciated. Customer didn’t say if it just blast or blast and paint.

This was bad, yep the start of a really bad day. First time I let my crew take my blaster to a project without me being there. But I had to laugh, mostly to keep from crying. So lesson learned here, if you pull your canopy down from one side and it doesn’t close as it normally does. Don’t start and run the unit until after you investigate what’s going on. In this case my lead blaster couldn’t get the canopy to latch after he checked the oil, started the machine, checked for leaks and abnormal conditions. Which is our start up procedure. He got the other helper to help him pull down the canopy, both of them on the same side. On a 2022 CPS185 the exhaust pipe is attached to the plastic canopy and there is a inverted lineup cone on the inside of the canopy to mate up to the fixed stand pipe on the muffler. If you pull hard enough you can twist the canopy enough to misalign the two part exhaust pipe system at their connection point. They did smell burning plastic and the unit shut its self down twice due to high element temperatures. Without investigating they cleared the board and restarted the blast unit. I’ll be writing up some new operating procedures now, and yes they still work for me, didn’t fire them. Lessons learned don’t work if you run them off after a equipment damage event has happened. When your into the investigation phase, cleanup, and getting it back to operating condition mode, it’s better for those that were impacted to assist in those task. A lesson learned or as I like to call them, a self induced training opportunity can be a great value for you and your employees.
