Propagate your own tomatoes.
Itโ€™s late in the season to grow new tomato plants that provide significant yield, so save this video for the fall season!

๐Ÿšจ Another Garden Pest Alert: Oleander Aphids Spotted! ๐Ÿ›๐ŸŒฟ

Yes โ€” these are aphids, specifically Oleander Aphids (bright yellow/orange bodies with black legs), commonly found on milkweed plants like the one pictured. They cluster on stems and new growth, sucking sap from the plant and weakening it over time. They also leave behind sticky honeydew that can attract ants and cause mold. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

๐ŸŒฑ How to Manage Them Naturally:
โœ… Blast them off with a strong stream of water- my go to method ๐Ÿ™‚
โœ… Wipe/crush clusters by hand (gloves help!)
โœ… Spray insecticidal soap or diluted neem oil in the evening
โœ… Encourage beneficial insects like ladybugs ๐Ÿž and lacewings
โœ… Prune heavily infested stems if needed

โš ๏ธ This is milkweed for monarch butterflies, avoid harsh pesticides- donโ€™t do that ๐Ÿ™‚ โ€” protect the caterpillars and pollinators!

Healthy gardens need regular scouting ๐Ÿ‘€ Catching pests early is the best defense.

๐Ÿšจ Garden heads up: These tiny reddish-brown eggs are Squash Vine Borer eggs โ€” a common pest of squash, zucchini, pumpkins, and other cucurbits. Theyโ€™re typically laid one at a time or in small clusters on stems, leaf stalks, and near the base of the plant. Once they hatch, the larvae bore into the vine, causing sudden wilting and plant collapse. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

โœ… Best prevention is exactly what I did here: inspect plants often and rub/scrape eggs off by hand before they hatch. Other smart defenses include floating row covers early in the season, wrapping lower stems with foil or fabric, keeping plants healthy, and succession planting. Catching them early can save the whole harvest! ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿฅ’

Another tiny friend stopped by for a visit! This time i had my big boy camera ๐Ÿ“ธ.

This little one is a Black-chinned Hummingbird ๐Ÿฆโ€” one of the most common hummingbirds here in Texas. While the males show off a striking purple-black throat in the right light, the females and juveniles (like this one) have soft gray underparts and a sleek, dusky chin.

Natureโ€™s perfect little helpers! These tiny pollinators play a BIG role in keeping our gardens thriving ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒฑ. By sipping nectar, they help flowers bloom and fruits set.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Planting native flowers like salvia, turkโ€™s cap, and flame acanthus is a great way to attract these incredible birds to your yard.

โœจ A tiny visitor stopped by today! โœจ

This is a Ruby-throated Hummingbird perched among the leaves of our moringa tree, reminding us how important it is to create gardens that nourish both people and pollinators. ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ๐Ÿชด

By planting pollinator-friendly flowers and edibles, youโ€™ll attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and beesโ€”turning your yard into a thriving ecosystem full of life and beauty. ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒบ
