Our guys removed this concrete with water instead of jackhammers or chipping hammers.

Our customer needed the concrete removed and the steel preserved for the next phase of their project. Our HydroDemolition crew made it happen with high-pressure water and precision. No chipping hammers. No damage to the steel.

That was the need on this job. But exposing existing steel has many applications:

• Cleaning and inspecting corroded rebar
• Replacing damaged or defective concrete
• Connecting an existing structure to a new addition

We retired our jackhammers about 10 years ago.

In situations where you typically use a 10 to 15 pound chipping hammer, we use HydroDemolition instead.

At first glance, you’d probably think this hole was core drilled.

But look inside the opening- The reinforcing steel is still there. 👀

A core drill uses a hollow, diamond-tipped bit to cut a round opening through concrete. It’s often the right tool. But on this project, the engineers told our customer the steel could not be cut.

A core drill would have cut through it.

That’s when the contractor called us.

We used HydroDemolition—high-pressure water—to remove the concrete while preserving the steel. 💧

And that clean, controlled opening? It took more than water pressure. It reflects advanced equipment with top of the line sensors and tried and true techniques our team has spent years developing.

How do you cut concrete piles that are in the water and hard to access like this? In this case, we don't use a saw. There's actually a safer and more efficient way to cut concrete with limited access. We hook up our wire sawing equipment on a barge, and then we attach it to the pile to be cut, and we slice it with specialized diamond wires. The piles are cut safely and quickly. Aggregate Technologies, Inc. honors all that were lost on 9/11/2001. Those lives still matter. Each person can never be replaced.
