Wind came through Richmond recently and this homeowner felt it.

The ridgeline took damage and the roof needed to be secured fast to prevent water from getting in while a full repair is scheduled. We got out there, assessed the damage, and tarped the ridgeline to protect the home until the next steps are taken.

Small repair, big impact. We just replaced a rotted low-profile roof vent for a homeowner in Richmond and the finished product came out clean.

The old vent had deteriorated to the point where it was no longer doing its job. A failed roof vent is not just a cosmetic issue. When attic ventilation is compromised, heat and moisture build up inside and that shortens the life of your roof from the inside out.
We removed the old vent, replaced it with a new low-profile unit, sealed everything properly around the base, and made sure it was sitting flush with the shingles. Solid ventilation restored and no signs we were ever there.

This is what a rodent entry point looks like up close, and yes, this was an active one.

A homeowner called us out after noticing signs of something getting into their attic. When we got up there we found exactly what you see in this photo. A hole chewed clean through the fascia board, with the surrounding wood gnawed down and deteriorated to the point where it had become an open invitation.

We removed the damaged material, replaced the fascia, sealed the entry point, and made sure the roofline was properly secured so nothing is getting back in through that spot.

If you have heard scratching in your attic, noticed chew marks around your roofline, or just have not had your roof inspected in a while, it is worth a look. These entry points are easy to miss from the ground and they only get worse over time.

Full roof replacement just completed for a homeowner in Sugar Land, and the best part? It was covered by their insurance.

The roof had taken significant hail damage from a recent storm. The shingles were bruised, the granule layer was compromised in multiple spots, and it had reached the point where a repair was not going to cut it. A full replacement was the right call.

If you are in Missouri City and we had a recent storm roll through, take a walk around your property before you call your insurance company. The signs of hail damage are often hiding in plain sight.

Here is what we found on a recent inspection in the area.

On the shingles: Dark impact marks and bruising where the granules have been knocked loose. This is the most critical sign because once the granule layer is gone, the shingle starts breaking down and your roof becomes vulnerable to leaks.

On the gutters and downspouts: Dents and dings along the metal. Gutters do not lie. If hail was big enough to dent your gutters, it was big enough to damage your shingles.

On the plants: Shredded or torn leaves on bushes and landscaping around the home. This one surprises people but it is one of the first things we look for. If the plants took a beating, the roof did too.

Hail damage is not always visible from the ground, and insurance claims have deadlines. Do not wait too long to get an inspection.

Before and after on this one. We just finished adding a cricket to a chimney and it is one of those upgrades that homeowners do not always know they need until they see the difference it makes.

A chimney cricket is a small peaked structure built behind the chimney to redirect water and debris away from the base. Without one, water pools right where the chimney meets the roof, and over time that leads to leaks, rot, and some expensive repairs.

We built and installed the cricket, flashed everything properly, and blended the shingles back in so the finished product looks like it was always part of the roof.

If you have a chimney and have never had a cricket installed, it is worth having someone take a look. A little prevention now saves a lot of money later.
