Caught! Dang thing ate my duck and a couple chickens now. Hate to put it down but I wonā€™t pass the problem on.

Edit: relocation is not an option here due to local wildlife code. Since it has killed livestock I am within right as a property owner. I would let him go but he is a proven killer and raccoons are relentless. They kill just because they can. It will kill every bird I have and only partially eat it. Thatā€™s just how they are. I donā€™t enjoy harming any animal but I wonā€™t let my birds be killed at night.

Homestead life isnā€™t always the exciting stuff. šŸ˜‚

Todayā€™s project was figuring out why the camper AC wasnā€™t keeping up. Ended up pulling the cover and housing apart and found the evaporator fins absolutely packed with dirt and buildup. The condensation pan was clogged too, causing water to build up inside.

Clean fins and proper airflow/drainage make a huge difference. One more thing learned out here living this way.

Every day is either fixing something, building something, or learning something. Sometimes all three.

Possible big changes coming soonā€¦

Trying not to say too much yet, but we may finally be taking a huge step forward out here.

Excitedā€¦ nervousā€¦ gratefulā€¦ and honestly a little scared too.

Because every step toward building a better life also seems to come with risk, debt, and wondering if youā€™re making the right call.

We started this journey chasing freedom, not perfection.

So weā€™re trying to make smart moves without losing sight of that.

Quick homestead check-inā€¦

Strawberries? Yeahā€¦ forgot to water them šŸ˜…
Theyā€™ll bounce back.

Potatoes, tomatoes, onions, herbs ā€” all doing their thing šŸ’Ŗ
Ducks got a fresh pool (they approve)

And of courseā€¦ had to check in with Super Dave šŸ

Not everything goes perfect out hereā€¦ but we keep it moving.

Burning brush pilesā€¦ in the rain.

Not ideal. Not pretty.
But itā€™s progress.

Every branch cleared, every pile burnedā€”
weā€™re slowly turning this land into something real.

Most people wonā€™t see this part.

Had a rough start.

There was a point we didnā€™t think heā€™d make it.

Now heā€™s in with the others, running around like nothing ever happenedā€”and honestlyā€¦ itā€™s getting hard to tell him apart.

Crazy what a little time and a fighting spirit can do.
